Regional Directors of the Youth Employment Agency are calling on President Mahama to halt the reassignment of former<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>National Service Secretariat Boss, Vincent Kuagbenu to the Agency.<\/p>\n

Vincent Kuagbenu replaces Kobby Acheampong who has been assigned to head Ghana Investment\u00a0Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC).<\/span><\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”NPbfSDO4B8Qtrie6kB01ZG2fBbXMLDW7″]However, the Regional Directors in a statement appealed to\u00a0 President Mahama to rather maintain Mr. Achempong as the Executive Director \u00a0of the Agency.<\/p>\n

“We are calling on the Presidency to halt the planned reassignment as a matter of urgency to save the image of the Agency\u00a0and \u00a0allow the current Executive Director \u00a0to continue with the good work he has started \u00a0before\u00a0Mr.Vincent Kuagbenu plunges the Agency into another scandal as he did with the National Service Scheme,” the Directors appealed.<\/p>\n

“We wish to state that we foresee danger looming if he is allowed to take over the leadership of the Agency following the mess he caused at NSS when he was the Boss which led to his sacking and the unfortunate signals we are getting even at this point when he is yet to take over,” they added.<\/p>\n

The Directors said it was a “huge surprise” that Mr. Acheampong had been reassigned to another organisation since the “Agency had gone through proper restructuring” which led to the creation of the Youth Employment Act, Act 887.<\/p>\n

They added that staff under, Mr Acheampong’s leadership, staff were also trained on customized monitoring and evaluation.<\/p>\n

The Youth Employment Agency<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Agency, which was formerly known as the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) \u00a0was established in October 2006 to empower young people to contribute to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation.<\/p>\n

Its objective is to support the youth between the ages of 18 to 35 years through skills training and internship modules to transit from a situation of unemployment to that of employment.<\/p>\n
