{"id":128916,"date":"2015-06-27T17:43:14","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T17:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=128916"},"modified":"2015-06-27T17:43:14","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T17:43:14","slug":"ghanaian-named-among-africas-most-outstanding-emerging-women-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=128916","title":{"rendered":"Ghanaian named among Africa\u2019s most outstanding emerging women leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ghanaian, Vera Addo has been named among\u00a0Africa\u2019s most outstanding emerging women leaders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms. Vera Addo\u2019s selection is in recognition of her outstanding work as a leader and her passion for young people and women participation in development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms. Addo holds a BA in Sociology from University of Ghana, Legon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She is the founder and CEO of VERADO Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting girl-child education, youth and women\u2019s empowerment, women and child rights, and health awareness in the Western Region of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/moremi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-128921 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/moremi.jpg\" alt=\"moremi\" width=\"496\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/moremi.jpg 496w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/moremi-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vera Addo&#8217;s selection was announced by\u00a0Moremi Initiative for Women\u2019s Leadership in Africa as part of the 2015 MILEAD (Moremi Initiative Leadership and Empowerment Development) Fellows initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This new cohort of MILEAD Fellows represent Africa\u2019s most promising young women leaders with the courage and commitment to lead and shape the future of Africa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Fellows were chosen through a highly competitive selection process and criteria based on their outstanding leadership promise, community service accomplishments, and commitment to the advancement of women in Africa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2014, VERADO foundation teamed up with the Ladies Club of Golden Star Wassa Mines to promote programs on girl-child education, adolescent reproductive health, breast cancer and HIV\/AIDS screening and awareness campaign for rural women in 6 communities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over 300 women and girls benefitted from these programs. \u00a0\u00a0Ms. Addo is the leader of the Youth Voices Post-2015 National Consultation, coordinated by Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES Ghana), and a member of the analysis team that produced the report \u201cYouth Voices on a Post-2015 World\u201d, supervised by Restless Development, London.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In November 2013, she was invited by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, London as a youth speaker on the \u201crole of young people in development\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vera is the Youth President at her church, and enjoys spending time with children, in particular the girl-child.
