{"id":128805,"date":"2015-06-27T12:05:35","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T12:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=128805"},"modified":"2015-06-27T12:05:35","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T12:05:35","slug":"explorer-discovers-7ft-blowing-face-carved-into-the-side-of-remote-cliff-face","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=128805","title":{"rendered":"Explorer discovers 7ft &#8216;blowing face&#8217; carved into the side of remote cliff face"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An image has appeared on the side of a cliff in a mystery which will make people do an about-face.<\/p>\n<p>A seven foot &#8216;face&#8217; has been spotted on a rockface on the remote Reeks Island &#8211; part of the windswept Broken Group Islands near Vancouver Island, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>And now the search is on to discover whether the visage, surrounded by a rugged shoreline and rough waters, is a natural phenomenon, or the product of ancient civilisation.<\/p>\n<p>Hank Gus first heard about the &#8216;face in the rocks&#8217; in 2008 when a kayaker stumbled across it.<\/p>\n<p>The canoeist sent the picture to Parks Canada, but couldn&#8217;t remember exactly where they&#8217;d spotted it.<\/p>\n<p>Then, just a few weeks ago, Hank finally found the hidden treasure and took a mobile phone video of the face.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"inline-image clearfix \">\n<div class=\"image-credit-wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"captify\" title=\"Discovery: Hank Gus looked for the mysterious image for years after a kayaker said he spotted it in 2008\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article5958372.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615\/Hank-Gus.jpg\" alt=\"Hank Gus\" width=\"615\" height=\"409\" \/><\/div><figcaption>Discovery: Hank Gus looked for the mysterious image for years after a kayaker said he spotted it in 2008<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He told CTV News: &#8220;It&#8217;s quite noticeable from the water, it&#8217;s pretty large.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s about 40 feet up and from the top of the cliff, and it&#8217;s about another 20 or 25 feet down, at least.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s high up and there&#8217;s bunch of rock cliffs on the side and it&#8217;s so hard to access.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hank says to him the face appears to be blowing, and is perhaps a symbol of wind.<\/p>\n<p>The face may resemble a spiritual being named Ugi who in the native Tseshaht culture blows wind to share the history of the peoples&#8217; ancestors, the station reported.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers are now hoping to get up close to the carving to find out more about its origins.<\/p>\n<p>Hank added: &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t matter if it&#8217;s natural or man-made,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It just looks really nice to share with others who come and visit us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source; Mirror.co.uk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An image has appeared on the side of a cliff in a mystery which will make people do an about-face.
