Blakk Rasta has apologised to Members of Parliament for alleging that about 80 percent of Parliamentarians smoke Marijuana, saying his comments came in \u201con the spur of the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe initial interview was on something else and this one came in on the spur of the moment so I will like to apologise for those unfortunate remarks,” the Hitz FM Presenter said when he appeared before the Privileges Committee.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”9Em4Q4tMjJn8xwfKpav77zraUm3dgFZY”]He explained that he did not mean to “look down” on Parliament or anybody but to make a “passionate appeal to have Ghana’s economy balanced.”<\/p>\n
Lawyer for Blakk Rasta\u00a0, Thaddeus Sory in his submission also said he has advised his client to appreciate that his comments were contemptuous.<\/p>\n
He explained that his client had since the first minute decided to apologise for his comments.<\/p>\n
Mr Sory also apologised on Blakk Rasta’s behalf, saying “We apologise\u2026on behalf of my client we unreservedly apologise\u2026we actually came in here to apologise\u201d, he says. Parliament is an august institution, he praises.”<\/p>\n
The sitting was chaired by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ebo Barton Oduro.<\/p>\n
How it all began<\/strong><\/p>\n The radio host, after alleging that 80 percent of Parliamentarians smoke marijuana allegedly also asked for the constitution to be translated into a local language [Twi] because according to him, Parliamentarians speak bad English.<\/p>\n He mimicked : \u201cMy God I check on this grammar and it\u2019s terrible. And I really want to know if our laws can be written in Twi so we will understand that better, rather than this English that we are terrorising ourselves with.\u201d<\/p>\n His comments angered a\u00a0New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament, Dr. Hennric Yeboah\u00a0who\u00a0asked the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho to allow them to summon him<\/strong> <\/span>\u00a0<\/a>before the committee.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n
