{"id":128175,"date":"2015-06-25T12:30:34","date_gmt":"2015-06-25T12:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=128175"},"modified":"2015-06-25T12:30:34","modified_gmt":"2015-06-25T12:30:34","slug":"pwamang-yaw-apau-cleared-for-supreme-court-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=128175","title":{"rendered":"Yaw Apau, Pwamang cleared for Supreme Court job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Supreme Court nominee, Mr Gabriel Pwamang can now take up his job because an appeal challenging his nomination before the General Legal Council has been withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;bANkihiPXFXo7rmPj8tMpZhCq6kCRHla&#8221;]Mr Pwamang who was a politician and member of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) was on May 12,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/12\/mahama-nominates-justice-apau-pwamang-for-supreme-court\/#sthash.v8IbGm3w.K7FCyCDe.dpbs\"><strong>nominated as a justice to Ghana\u2019s apex court<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, by President John Mahama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was appointed together with the Sole Commissioner of the Judgment Debt Commission, Justice Yaw Apau.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though the two had been vetted by Parliament&#8217;s Appointment Committee, the nomination of Pwamang was being challenged by madama Eva Oboshie Sai at the General Legal Council.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Woode subsequently formed a Disciplinary Committee to investigate the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile,\u00a0 a letter from the General Legal Council sent to Parliament, signed by the Disciplinary Committee&#8217;s secretary,\u00a0 Bernard Bentil stated that \u201cI have been directed by the Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee of the General \u00a0Council to inform you that the said complaint against Mr Gabriel Pwamang has been withdrawn by the complainant madam Eva Oboshie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere is therefore no petition pending before the Committee against Mr Gabriel Pwamang.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>&#8216; Richard Dela Sky, following the withdrawal of the matter at the Legal Council, Gabriel Pwamang and Yaw Apau have been cleared by Parliament for the Supreme Court job.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the General Secretary of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah dismissed suggestions that Gabriel Pwamang <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/13\/pwamang-wont-be-politically-biased-mornah\/#sthash.nTfx2LVF.dpbs\"><strong>will be politically biased<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in the discharge of his duties after a\u00a0leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko expressed worry over his nomination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
