{"id":128156,"date":"2015-06-25T17:46:10","date_gmt":"2015-06-25T17:46:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=128156"},"modified":"2015-06-25T18:56:05","modified_gmt":"2015-06-25T18:56:05","slug":"blame-politicians-for-tamale-lawlessness-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=128156","title":{"rendered":"Blame politicians for Tamale lawlessness &#8211; Police\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A senior officer of the Tamale Metropolitan Police Command has opined that political interference in the operations of the Police is the cause of lawlessness in Tamale Township.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chief Inspector Alfred Agona Rashid insisted that political interference remained a major obstacle in the course of enforcing the law in Tamale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;N59LkgVU8VQiIV2EYpSrbTzDIKe7MzEq&#8221;]He exclusively spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> on the sidelines of a stakeholder zonal inception meeting in Tamale organized by SEND-Ghana on how to combat corruption in our country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He maintained that the fight against corruption will be an exercise in futility if the police and other law enforcement agencies do not independently carryout their core duties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI would have wished parties especially politicians will allow the institutions to work especially the police service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFor instance if a person commits offence, the police should be allowed to investigate the case thoroughly and if the person really committed offence he should be prosecuted but if these kind of impediments are put on the way of the police during their investigations, it doesn\u2019t make our work easy,\u201d Chief Inspector Rashid complained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SEND-Ghana\u2019s Director of advocacy, Clara Osei-Boateng called for the fullest application of the Whistle Blowers Act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She explained the rationale behind the project, \u201cWhat this consortium of CSOs seek to do is to strengthen civil society organizations on the other hand to demand for state institutions mandated to do their work to do it as expected: but also strengthen the capacity of the state institutions to be able to take up their mandate and deal with situations that affect our lives as far as corruption is concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Anti Corruption campaigners, SEND-Ghana received funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement a four year project targeted at combating corruption in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project is dubbed, \u201cAccountable Democratic Institutions and Systems Strengthening Project (ADISS).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SEND-Ghana is spearheading it in collaboration with the Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition (GACC) and the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A senior officer of the Tamale Metropolitan Police Command has opined that political interference in the operations of the Police is the cause of lawlessness in Tamale Township.
