Some of the people living in\u00a0Adjen Kotoku, the area earmarked for the resettlement of Old Fadama residents say they will not accept them because they [people from Adjen Kotoku] would not be safe with them in the area.<\/p>\n

Resident of Old Fadama whose homes were demolished last Saturday are to be relocated to the new area.<\/p>\n

Thousands of the Old Fadama residents were rendered homeless last Saturday after the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) embarked on a demolition exercise.<\/p>\n

Government said it has prepared a place in Adjen Kotoku \u00a0to\u00a0host them.<\/p>\n

Some officials have also said that part of the area will also serve as an international market for Yam traders.<\/p>\n

Citifmonline.com<\/strong>\u00a0checks revealed new infrustructure to host them and make their commercial activities successful.<\/p>\n

The area has tarred roads and some social amenities including a Police station, health facility, Fire Service post, a Senior High school and a market.<\/p>\n

The market has 95 stores, toilet facilities, pavements, two huge sheds but these are all lying fallow.<\/p>\n

Information gathered by citifmonline.com<\/strong> indicates that the place will be used as the Greater Accra Regional Fire Service Training School as well.<\/p>\n

It has a recovery ward and two consulting rooms but there was only one nurse and an in-charge when citifmonline.com<\/strong> visited.<\/p>\n

Information gathered by citifmonline.com<\/strong> suggests that the Adjen Kotoku Senior High School was initially planned as a basic school for children of the Old Fadama traders but was converted to a Day Senior High school.<\/p>\n

Adjen Kotoku is a serene town with new projects springing up.<\/p>\n

But a spokesperson for the Chief complained about government\u2019s failure to compensate the land owners of the area.<\/p>\n

He also complained that government has not provided accommodation facilities for residents of Old Fadama.<\/p>\n

It was discovered that there are legal issues on the said land.<\/p>\n
