Following the demolition exercise at Old Fadama in Accra, some students who live in the community say they are afraid their education is in jeopardy.<\/p>\n

The students who were seen salvaging their items from the debris on Tuesday during school hours explained that apart from being rendered homeless, they have lost their educational materials and have since not been able to return to school.<\/p>\n

Some of the students shared their frustrations with Citi News<\/strong> saying, \u201cWe were in school when they came to call us that our house has been destroyed so we should come and pack our things. By the time we got here, we didn\u2019t even see our parents, my uniforms, my books, my pens; we couldn\u2019t find anything so we need help because we don\u2019t have any place to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another also narrated that she similarly lost some of her exercise books as well as her school uniforms as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is really going to affect my education,\u201d she complained.<\/p>\n

One pupil also complained about the possibility of getting enrolled in a new school; a situation he said could draw him back in his education.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, my parents and I are going to leave this place and this means I have to go to a new school.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another student lamented that she lost all her savings and textbooks and thus appealed to the government \u201cto help me so that I will get back my text books and learn.\u201d<\/p>\n

Electricity and water supply has been cut to the area following the demolition exercise which was carried out last weekend and according to one of the students, although she has no place to lay her head at night, there is no light to study as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way they are going about it, it is really affecting us because we cannot sit down and learn and there is no light to learn too.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Junior High School (JHS) student who is expected to write his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) next year said he is at a loss as to how he will study to pass the exams next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext year, we are writing our BECE and we don\u2019t know how we will write the exams. The destroyed our house so I lost all my uniforms. Even today, I haven\u2019t gone to school so we need help.\u201d<\/p>\n
