Member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency and Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Nii Lante Vanderpuijie has denied accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of masterminding the riots in Old Fadama on Monday.<\/p>\n
He is rather blaming the NPP for taking undue\u00a0advantage of the situation and politicizing it.<\/p>\n

The MP said the NPP\u2019s attempt to politicize the situation is unfortunate.<\/p>\n
“…It is irresponsible for them to take political advantage of that. I have no problem with the people demonstrating. I have said it is irresponsible for them to take advantage of it, clad people in NPP T-shirts, give them flags and be shouting Nana Addo’s name.<\/p>\n
“They\u00a0are giving the excuse that they are doing it because their office was demolished.Yes I agree their office was demolished but three of my sheds\u00a0that I built for my people were\u00a0also\u00a0demolished. My Party Chairman’s place was also demolished. Why don’t we get our people to also do the same,” he stated.<\/p>\n
He also stated that the National Security and the AMA will be meeting to assess the exercise.<\/p>\n
They will among other things discuss :<\/p>\n
1. Total number of persons affected by the flood<\/p>\n
2. How to move residents who have been affected by the floods and those who have resolved to relocate to their respective destination.<\/p>\n
3. The scope of work the AMA is expected to carry out in the area.<\/p>\n
Residents acted on their own volition<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile\u00a0the NPP has described as insulting, claims<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>that it instigated residents of Old Fadama to demonstrate against government on Monday.<\/p>\n The NPP argued that the Old Fadama residents whose structures and properties were destroyed in last Saturday\u2019s demolition exercise reacted on their own volition.<\/p>\n NPP\u2019s Communications Director, Nana Akomea in an interview with Citi News said: \u201cYou are actually insulting them by saying to them that they don\u2019t know what they are doing, they don\u2019t have any minds of their own and that they are being manipulated by some people.\u201d<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
