The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the timetable for the re-sit of the five cancelled papers for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).<\/p>\n
Candidates will retake the five papers on June 29 and 30.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”Cq8qzj64CBCMhWw2qOdnNPfbft2TjK8p”]On Monday June 29, 2015 the students will write English Language 2, Integrated Science 2 and Religious & Moral Education 2 and on Tuesday June 30, 2015, the Social Studies 1&2 and Mathematics 2 papers will be written.<\/p>\n
Midway through the writing of the BECE, WAEC announced that it had canceled some papers<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>upon detection that the questions had leaked and gone viral on social media.<\/p>\n The examination body was widely criticized for the leakage and for putting undue pressure of the students writing the examination.<\/p>\n A parent also threatened to sue WAEC<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>for psychologically traumatizing his son.<\/p>\n In response, WAEC maintained that the papers had to be cancelled to protect the integrity of the exams.<\/p>\n Although the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is investigating the matter<\/a><\/strong>,<\/span> the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is demanding that the governing board of WAEC be dissolved and the WAEC boss sacked.<\/p>\n So far, some four teachers<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>in the Ashanti Region have been arrested after they were caught printing BECE questions and solving them for some students who had paid for their services.<\/p>\n The Ashanti Regional Police has said that it is investigating the matter and the teachers will soon be processed for court.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
