The UK\u2019s heaviest man, who weighed 65 stone, has been found dead in his Dover flat.<\/p>\n
The fire brigade, police and ambulance staff took several hours to remove Carl Thompson, 33, from his home. His body was removed using a small crane.<\/p>\n
A police spokesman said: \u201cKent police was called at 10.38am on 21 June to a property in Dofras Place, Dover, following reports that a man in his 30s had died. Officers do not believe the death to be suspicious.\u201d The coroner would be notified, he added.<\/p>\n
Thompson had been housebound for more than a year after doctors told him he needed to lose 70% of his body weight.<\/p>\n
Consuming 10,000 calories every day \u2013 four times the usual daily amount for a man \u2013 he reportedly spent about \u00a3200 a week on takeaways and online food shopping.<\/p>\n
Unable to walk or dress himself, Thompson was bathed and cooked for by a team of NHS carers.<\/p>\n
The owner of Thompson\u2019s favourite takeaway \u2013 who would deliver food to his bedside using a key to his flat \u2013 spoke of sending him what may have been his final food order.<\/p>\n
Merdad Mohebbi, owner of nearby Q Pizza, told the Sun: \u201cI can\u2019t believe it. He had cut right down on what he was eating. He was only ordering one or two things a day. When I took the order he seemed happy enough. He was talking about how he was going to the hospital and they were going to do tests for him. He was full of life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Dover Express had this year revealed Thompson was the heaviest man in Britain. At the time, he told the paper: \u201cI need to lose 45 stone or doctors say I will die.\u201d He had reportedly had five heart attacks in the past year.<\/p>\n
He had described how he had developed a bad relationship with food since childhood. He would sneak downstairs at night and raid the kitchen cupboards in his childhood home in Lydden.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was only about three or four and no one knew why I did it,\u201d he told local media. \u201cI would just eat anything out of the cupboards.\u201d .<\/p>\n
