Societe Generale (SG), one of the leading banks in Ghana has held its annual Citizen Commitment Time (CCT) at the Shelter for Abused Children in Accra.<\/p>\n
This according to the Deputy Managing Director Mr. Francois Marchal is \u201cto assist the facility to meet some of its needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
The annual CCT is an initiative by the parent company, Societe Generale Group since 2009 earmarked on the Group\u2019s calendar every year in June for all Societe Generale entities to demonstrate the Bank\u2019s
\ncommitment to solidarity.<\/p>\n
The Citizen Commitment Time, formally Citizen Commitment Week is celebrated in all the subsidiaries of Societe Generale Group with the aim of giving back to society and the community by facilitating employee involvement in community projects.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, Mr Francois Marchal, said: “In 2012 and 2013, the bank celebrated the CCT with the shelter by setting up a computer laboratory with 20 highly functional computers complete with cabling and furnishing.”<\/p>\n
This year, SG Ghana as part of the celebration renovated the Shelter\u2019s Assembly and ICT Blocks which need maintenance to continue to function as desired.<\/p>\n
The Bank\u2019s employees, who were present at the Shelter completed the task by painting the structure. The Staff also assisted in cleaning the Shelter and interacted with the children on various levels to serve as an inspiration to them.<\/p>\n
The bank has supported Mampong-Akuapem Senior Technical School for the Deaf, Kibi School for the Deaf and the State School for the Deaf, Ashaiman.<\/p>\n
Mrs Georgina Mensah, the Shelter’s Manageress expressed gratitude to the bank for the commitment to the shelter over the years.<\/p>\n
She said the activities would leave smiles on the faces of the children due to the banks help in providing an ICT block as well as a clean environment for them and to have an opportunity to learn and live well.<\/p>\n
Mrs Mensah explained that the mentoring session and other programmes organised on the day would impact positively on the inmates.<\/p>\n
She called on well meaning individuals and organisations to provide some of the needs of the shelter.<\/p>\n
