{"id":127263,"date":"2015-06-22T18:34:06","date_gmt":"2015-06-22T18:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=127263"},"modified":"2015-06-22T18:34:06","modified_gmt":"2015-06-22T18:34:06","slug":"declare-september-1-a-holiday-to-attract-voters-lecturer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=127263","title":{"rendered":"Declare September 1 a holiday to attract voters \u2013 Lecturer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dean of Studies and Research at the Institute of Local Government Studies, Dr. Eric Oduro Osae wants the Electoral Commission lobby for the election day of the District Assembly elections to be declared a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>He argued that there is usually low voter turn-out for the election and it is likely to worsen due to the postponement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must ensure that the 1st September which has been earmarked for the election is declared a public holiday because the district level elections normally does not attract higher voter turnout and looking at what has happened, people became disillusioned so now, we need to declare it a public holiday,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;zUuodYbt1BQOoRnkviKnCfrUxF1jfSVb&#8221;]The Electoral Commission has announced September 1, 2015 as the new date for the District Assembly and Unit Committee elections after the Supreme Court canceled the earlier date of March 3, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the March 3 election, suggested that to make the District Assembly elections more attractive to voters, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/21\/politicise-district-assembly-elections-ob-amoah\/#sthash.yl0UmUmG.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">it must be politicized.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapim South, O. B.
