Personnel of the Ghana Police Service and some media men had to run for their lives after residents of Old Fadama pelted them with stones and chased them with clubs.<\/p>\n

Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Franklin Badu Jnr, who was at the scene said the Police were overwhelmed by the angry youth who outnumbered them.<\/p>\n

They had hit the streets to protest against the destruction of their places of residence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation has overwhelmed the Police. The Police together with myself and some other civilians had to run for our lives because they were chasing us with metals, rocks and sticks,\u201d he reported.<\/p>\n

Among the Police officers who were fleeing the scene was the Director of Police Public Relations, Superintendent Cephas Arthur.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was running with Supt. Cephas Arthur himself and even the Police officers and the Fire officers have left the scene; all running for their lives. Majority of the Police officials have left the area. There were about 50 policemen stationed there but they realized that the situation was out of control and they were overwhelmed. When the youth started throwing stones at us, we had to run for our lives,\u201d Badu Jnr reported.<\/p>\n

Franklin Badu Jnr also reported that the angry youth are demanding they should be compensated and relocated after their houses were destroyed.<\/p>\n

Some of them are also suggesting that buses should be made available for them to go back to the the Northern Region where most of them migrated \u00a0from.<\/p>\n

They also served notice they will vote against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government it fails to meet their demands.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe youth here are very, very angry and they are saying nothing will stop them from demonstrating today until the demolishing comes to a halt\u2026until something is done about it, it might escalate into a dangerous situation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Police vehicles and personnel were attacked and commercial drivers had to flee the scene to protect their vehicles from being vandalized.<\/p>\n
