The Talensi branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has now begun its parliamentary primaries to elect a candidate to represent the party in the 7th July By-election.<\/p>\n

Voting, which was scheduled to commence at 10am began at 2:30pm on Sunday due to some challenges but the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)\u00a0which is also holding its primaries is through with voting and counting is underway<\/p>\n

The candidates contesting in the primaries are B.T. Baba, a 67-year-old retired prisons officer and former chairman of Ghana Olympics committee, Edward Awunnore, a 40-year-old District Chief Executive for Talensi and an educationist.<\/p>\n

Also contesting are Rockson Aditiba, a 31-year-old businessman, Bazimwomit Charles Boazor, a 38-year-old public servant Asutifi-North assembly and James Store, a 52-year-old banker with the Bank of Ghana.<\/p>\n

In all, there 74 polling stations and 22 electoral areas and a total of 698 delegates are expected to cast their vote.<\/p>\n

All candidates have signed an undertaking not to go independent should any candidate lose.<\/p>\n

Delegates have been cautioned not to take photos of candidates they have voted for.<\/p>\n

Personnel from the Military and the Ghana Police Service are monitoring the exercise.<\/p>\n
