The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has advised the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates not be discouraged by the cancellation of five of their papers.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Nana Addo expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the candidates and their parents and urged the children to \u201ckeep up their spirits and prepare themselves for the rescheduled papers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Wednesday cancelled five BECE papers<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>after it detected a massive leakage of the questions on social media.<\/p>\n The examination council explained that the cancellation was necessary in order to protect the integrity of the examination.<\/p>\n The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is investigating the leakage<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and some top officials of WAEC have been questioned.<\/p>\n That notwithstanding, the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) wants the WAEC board dissolved<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>and the WAEC boss dismissed.<\/p>\n The NPP flagbearer welcomed the involvement of the BNI and the Ghana Police Service in the case. \u201cThe tragedy that has befallen some 438,000 pupils who had prepared themselves for the aborted BECE examinations is most regrettable,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n He charged WAEC to be more vigilant in the processing of the examination papers to prevent the recurrence of this incident.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
