Executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency in the Eastern Region are to hold a reconciliation meeting aimed at mending the cracks in the party in the area.<\/p>\n
According to the chairman of the NPP in the constituency, Fred Ohene Ampomah the recently held primaries saw most of the executives throwing their weight behind one candidate, a situation he said created some divisions within the party.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”Iggxcjtu6F7qzC9oLl6ChUYHRucjcedW”]Former broadcaster, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah emerged winner<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the parliamentary primaries after defeating John Obiri Yeboah and Bright Asamoah Acquah.<\/p>\n This resulted in near violent clashes as the youth in the area attacked those perceived to have supported Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.<\/p>\n Some of the youth reportedly burnt the traditional stools<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of some chiefs they accused of supporting Kojo Oppong Nkrumah against their preferred candidate.<\/p>\n In an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, Mr. Ohene Ampomah lamented that organizing the primary \u201cwas very difficult, since most of the constituency executives went behind one person,\u201d hence the need for the reconciliation he is proposing.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I\u2019ve decided to call an executive meeting in order to unite all of us. We have finished with the primaries, the only thing we have to do is to unite and support the winning candidate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the NPP\u2019s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong has directed that aggrieved contestants should forward their grievances to the party\u2019s Secretariat<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
