The national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi Lamptey says he suspects foul play in Thursday\u2019s shooting incident at Tamale.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is foul play because there is already a foul play,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n
Nine persons were injured when unknown persons opened fire into a gathering of merry makers in Tamale on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey is therefore calling on the police to immediately hunt down the culprits because there is bound to be merry making when large groups of people meet and their safety should be guaranteed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Police should immediately move and bring the culprits to book. Let us make an example of these people and let us send a message out that Tamale is not going to tolerate violence of this nature,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In a related development, the Northern Regional chairman of the party, Daniel Bugri Naba has expressed concerns about the failure of the Police and other security forces to protect party members as promised.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very, very surprised that with all these security people on the ground\u2026they told us to go and celebrate our conference and that we are fully protected, even our accommodation area will be protected,\u201d he complained.<\/p>\n
The Police have reinforced its personnel in the region with more than 100 officers ahead of the party\u2019s national delegates\u2019 conference.<\/p>\n
Bugri Naba expressed his concerns in an interview Citi News<\/strong> after visiting the NPP supporters who sustained gunshot wounds during the shoot out.<\/p>\n According to him, he got wind of information on Thursday that some National Democratic Congress (NDC) members were planning an attack on the NPP and \u201cnow the thing has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
