Winner of Citi FM\u2019s<\/strong> Write Away contest in 2010, Selassie Mensah on Tuesday\u00a0motivated students of some schools in Accra and the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n

She encouraged the students to sharpen their writing skills by taking part in Citi FM\u2019s Write Away Contest which was launched last month.<\/p>\n

She said they could use the Contest as a platform to tell their own stories saying \u201ceveryone has a story to tell and the Write Away contest is the right platform to expose you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen writing, don\u2019t focus on your grammatical errors, but focus on the message you want to send out to your readers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Selassie Mensah made the call when she toured some schools in the country with the Write Away Team.<\/p>\n

The Write-Away Contest seeks to help improve children\u2019s affinity for writing and by extension reading, through engaging, thought provoking contest topics.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the school children, Programmes Manager of Citi FM, Jessica Opare-Saforo explained the requirements of the contest and together with the sponsors engaged the school children to take part in it and \u201chave fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of the schools visited included the Beacon International School in the Eastern Region and Golden SunBeam International School in Accra.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the team visited the Eton Academy, Zoe International School, Prince of Peace School, Shield International School and Marymount school.<\/p>\n

About the contest<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ultimate winner for this year’s contest will walk with a GH\u00a210, 000 cash prize, the 1st and 2nd runner ups will be walking away with GH\u00a25,000 and GH\u00a22,000 respectively.<\/p>\n

The winners would also walk away with hampers from the sponsors to spur them on to aspire for greater things.<\/p>\n

How to participate<\/strong><\/p>\n

Children who would want to participate must write a story in not less than 600 words that ends with the phrase: \u201cBut Alas! When elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Completed entries must then be posted to THE WRITE-AWAY CONTEST, P.O. Box GP 14123 Accra Central by the 25th July 2015. Entries can also be submitted to the front desk of Citi FM, behind the Adabraka Police Station, Accra.<\/p>\n
