{"id":125460,"date":"2015-06-16T17:57:08","date_gmt":"2015-06-16T17:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=125460"},"modified":"2015-06-17T09:09:11","modified_gmt":"2015-06-17T09:09:11","slug":"committee-set-up-to-investigate-june-3-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=125460","title":{"rendered":"Committee set up to investigate June 3 fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 5-member committee has been set up to investigate the June 3 fire incident that claimed over 90 lives at the GOIL filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0committee\u00a0chaired by\u00a0retired Justice Isaac Delali Douse was set up by the Minister of Interior, \u00a0Mark Woyongo per a direction by the President.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They are expected to complete the investigations by June 30th.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other members of the committee include: Wise Ametepe, a Hydrologist, DCFO William Jesse Mensah &#8211; Fire Service, Colonel Mohammed Mustapha and Chief Supt. Raymond Simpi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister further urged the public to assist the committee with information to enable them make comprehensive recommendations to government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A fire outbreak at the GOIL filling station amidst\u00a0heavy rains killed about 150 people while several others were injured.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/611.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-125466\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/611.jpg\" alt=\"61\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/611.jpg 650w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/611-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Government subsequently established a GH\u00a250 million fund to support both the fire and flood victims.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A memorial service was also held last Wednesday in honour of the departed souls.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/81.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-125467\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/81.jpg\" alt=\"8\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/81.jpg 650w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/81-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
