Some disgruntled members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Okai Koi South constituency of the Greater Accra Region have secured a court order restraining delegates in the constituency from voting in Saturday\u2019s national delegate\u2019s conference.<\/p>\n
The injunction follows a similar action brought against three other constituencies in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n
The disgruntled members in the constituency say the election of the current crop of leaders was unconstitutional.<\/p>\n
Giving the reason for the injunction on\u00a0Eyewitness News<\/b>, the Spokesperson for the disgruntled members, Ms. Nana Konadu Prempeh stated that the party members sought a court injunction because party conducted illegal polling station elections.<\/p>\n
Speaking further on the issue, she stated that \u201cthe election was illegal because some delegates weren’t called and even those who were called didn\u2019t know which polling station they were supposed to vote from.\u201d<\/p>\n
She therefore stated that the party had sought a court injunction to refrain delegates in the constituency from voting.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an injunction to stop them from voting in Tamale. It\u2019s about conducting a free fair and election so everybody can participate in the election.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe in the principle and the integrity and the democracy of the party. The party is a party that believes in democracy. We are not here for illegalities. We need to get it right from the foundation,\u201d she insisted<\/p>\n
