Domestic airline company, Antrak Air has suspended operations in country for the next three months due to operational reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sources close to the company confirmed this to\u00a0Citi Business News.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Antrak air started operations in September 2003 with scheduled domestic and regional flights.<\/span><\/p>\n

This will not be the first time Antrak is suspending its operations. <\/span><\/p>\n

In May 2012, it grounded its flights following a fire on board its only aircraft. <\/span><\/p>\n

The company resumed its domestic flights on August 6, 2012 after being grounded for about two months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another domestic airline operator , Fly540 \u00a0suspended operations<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>in Ghana in 2014 after it encountered a few setbacks.<\/p>\n

The company asked about a hundred of its workers to go on an \u00a0administrative leave.<\/p>\n

The airline explained that the move was to help it restructure its operations.<\/p>\n

In the same year [2014], other airline operators including British Airways and Delta Airlines suspended operations due to some challenges.<\/p>\n

Delta Airlines was compelled to temporally suspend<\/span><\/strong><\/a> operations to Liberia due to weak passenger demand while British airways resorted to such a decision as a result of the Ebola outbreak.<\/p>\n

The airline in a statement issued to travel operators \u00a0said it is notifying operators of “the suspension of our operations for the next three (3) months, effective 10th June 2015”.<\/span><\/p>\n

“During this period we will be looking at re\u00adorganisation, as it concerns our business model. We have been compelled to strategically suspend all operations from the domestic market, with the aim restructuring to meet the rapidly changing and competitive environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We are in advanced talks to take delivery of our own aircraft, which will give us more flexibility and less restrictive scheduling. We will return with the most convenient schedules, competitive fares and friendly service.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuous support, and we also look forward to welcoming you on our flights in the near-future,” the company said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The latest setback in Antrak’s operations affirms challenges the company has been going through in the aviation industry since it launched into the Ghanaian airspace 12 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Antrak Air wishes to apologise for all the inconvenience caused by this suspension.We have made contingency arrangements to ensure that all clients holding our tickets for future travel before our resumption date will be adequately taken care of by our personnel at the airport,” the company assured in the statement.<\/span><\/p>\n
