{"id":123879,"date":"2015-06-11T10:41:20","date_gmt":"2015-06-11T10:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=123879"},"modified":"2015-06-11T13:03:34","modified_gmt":"2015-06-11T13:03:34","slug":"ayariga-epa-close-down-four-filling-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=123879","title":{"rendered":"Ayariga, EPA close down four filling stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Environmental Protection Agency EPA have closed down four filling stations in the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n<p>This was carried out during a tour to a number of filling stations after the floods and explosion last Wednesday which took 150 lives.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;5bnIDVc8wpUXN9h0dsiT9jUJFKs3OgMC&#8221;]The Minister together with the EPA indicated that the fuel stations that were asked to cease operations did not have the permit to operate in the areas they were located.<\/p>\n<p>They also explained that the location of some of the filling stations caused other residential areas near them to flood when it rains.<\/p>\n<p>The filling stations closed are OJK and Goil filling stations in Darkuman, Total Filling station at the Mallam Junction and Go Gas at the old Kasoa Barrier.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the media after the inspection, Mahama Ayariga said the Ministry will ensure that all filling stations abide by the rules of operation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123036\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123036\" style=\"width: 621px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_8293.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123036\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_8293.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8293\" width=\"621\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_8293.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_8293-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123036\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A fuel station being demolished at Mile 7 in Accra<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He expressed hope that the stations that have been asked to cease operations will do so and heed to the invitation from the EPA. He said the ministry and agency will \u201cask them (the filling station owners) to remove the facilities, if they don\u2019t we will remove it for them and bill them\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile a resident who lives behind the Darkuman Goil filling station Rose Moore welcomed the closure of the filling station near her house.<\/p>\n<p>She said \u201cbefore this filling station our homes never got flooded, but now even the tiniest drop floods our homes.
