It\u2019s not just the city authorities,&#8221; Mahama Ayariga said on <strong>The Big Issue<\/strong> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister expressed\u00a0optimism that the meeting would help find lasting solutions to the city&#8217;s flooding problems.<\/p>\n<p>Among the \u00a0invited officials are members of the Town and Country Planning, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the planning officers at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Town and Country Planning Department under the Ministry of Environment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-121997\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_7723.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7723\" width=\"768\" height=\"431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_7723.jpg 768w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_7723-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ayariga revealed\u00a0that following an initial meeting with the planners, they\u00a0had attributed the \u00a0nation&#8217;s perennial problems after heavy rainfall to the poor planning in Accra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;We have failed&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-121965\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/31.jpg\" alt=\"3\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/31.jpg 650w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/31-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A somber-looking Ayariga acknowledged that government and other public officers the failure of leadership\u00a0to effectively\u00a0implement developmental plans and effectively manage the use of the land resource has contributed to recent disasters in the country including Wednesday&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have failed to implement plans, we have failed to update existing plans, we have failed to manage land use\u00a0properly in our cities and so when you fail in this regard, these are some of the consequences that will be visited on us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Environment, Science and Technology,\u00a0Mahama Ayariga is expected to\u00a0meet all relevant stakeholders today [Monday] to discuss development plan for the capital, Accra.
