The Accra Regional Police Command has disclosed that the heavy floods that ravaged the capital on Wednesday also destroyed portions of some of its barracks.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”qGKatJx8e6vtbECyIuHz5IV0FN1EoZfI”]In an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, the Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tetteh-Yohuno added that many police officers in the region were affected by the flood.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cSome of our officers who live in Alajo and Mambrobi had their properties washed away,\u201d while they were ordered to throng the streets and homes to protect lives and properties.<\/p>\n DCOP Tetteh-Yohuno said the flood affected most of their officers who were living in low laying areas adding that \u201cthe ground floor of their properties were all swept away.\u201d<\/p>\n Hundreds of Ghanaians have reportedly lost their lives in Wednesday’s fire explosion<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and flooding in Accra.<\/p>\n In another development, President John Dramani Mahama has\u00a0directed the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), to establish emergency centres<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the country to rescue flooding victims.<\/p>\n He said \u201cdrastic steps are necessary here if we are to permanently address this perennial problem. We will intensify our efforts to expand a modernized drainage system.
