President John Dramani Mahama is holding a closed door National Crisis and Emergency meeting with the security chiefs and some members of his cabinet at the Flagstaff House over Wednesday’s floods and fire that killed over 90 people in Accra.<\/p>\n

President Mahama will be briefed on the flood management plan \u00a0and strategies to be adopted to curb end the perennial floods in the city.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of people reportedly lost their lives at the GOIL fuel station<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in Accra after the station was razed by fire during a heavy downpour that rendered parts of the city inaccessible.<\/p>\n Several homes and businesses were submerged as a result of the flooding.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, President Mahama who visited the GOIL fuel station on Thursday promised that government will adopt drastic measures<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to stop the floods from occurring again.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to take some measures to avoid this in the future. Often when these measures are drastic, you have a lot of sympathy and pressure not to take these measures. But I think the time has come for us to move houses out of the waterways.
