{"id":120320,"date":"2015-05-29T12:05:42","date_gmt":"2015-05-29T12:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=120320"},"modified":"2015-05-29T12:11:05","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T12:11:05","slug":"allow-afoko-agyepong-to-work-from-headquaters-nana-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=120320","title":{"rendered":"Allow Afoko, Agyepong to work from headquaters &#8211; Nana Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2016 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has issued an order to party elements preventing the National Chairman and General Secretary from working from their offices at the\u00a0party\u2019s headquarters to allow them access.<\/p>\n<p>At a press briefing in Accra on Friday, Nana Addo in his address to party members, said although the party is still mourning the late Upper East Regional chairman, Mahama Adam, it is imperative for things to normalize within the party.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_120332\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-120332\" style=\"width: 631px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150529-WA0003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-120332\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150529-WA0003.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150529-WA0003\" width=\"631\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150529-WA0003.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150529-WA0003-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150529-WA0003-1024x575.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 631px) 100vw, 631px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-120332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nana Akufo-Addo flanked by party executives after delivering his speech<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;0PZwFLLermFxH58aH44wG5KcCKih6rrS&#8221;]\u201cThis means, for instance, that the officers of the party, the National Chairman and the General Secretary in particular, must have access to their offices at party headquarters and not be hindered in any way from being able to conduct their duties,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP&#8217;s\u00a0National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong have been unable to gain access to their offices at the party&#8217;s headquarters since the death Adam Mahama last week.<\/p>\n<p>The party&#8217;s private security called the &#8220;Invisible Forces&#8221; have taken over the party&#8217;s headquarters while some have initiated processes to oust the two national executives.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday some loyalists of Paul Afoko <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/28\/afoko-supporters-clash-with-club-wielding-npp-security\/#sthash.vqSYqVHT.aj3SVP4c.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">clashed with the \u201cInvisible Forces,\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 at the party\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>But Nana Addo\u00a0warned that he will not tolerate any chaos within Ghana\u2019s largest opposition party and called for all \u201crecriminations against ourselves in this period of healing\u201d to stop.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the NPP is a party guided by law and order and he thus asked that \u201cnormalcy return to our headquarters and party offices. I ask that we extend mutual respect to each other and we listen to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo pointed out that the NPP is not the first party to face crisis and neither will the NPP be the last party to come out of its crisis stronger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to assure you. I am confident of our capacity to overcome and we shall overcome,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He asked party to participate in the fasting and prayers for the party which will commence on Sunday for the welfare of the NPP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no doubt that, with the help of Almighty God and by our collective determination, the storms that are currently buffeting the great, historic movement that the NPP represents will soon subside so that it can fulfil its mission of developing our nation in freedom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP flagbearer ordered the various national decision making bodies of the party to meet to resolve the numerous issues facing the party.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that \u201cmany sections of the party have spoken and made their appeals, the party structures should take over and deal with the issues that have been raised. Meetings of the National Executive Committee, the body charged with responsibility for directing the affairs of the party and, then, the National Council, the highest decision making body of the party, except for the National Annual Delegates\u2019 Conference, should be convened after the Adua prayers to resolve the issues that we face. I am confident that these bodies will act in the collective interest of the party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He reassured all NPP members, supporters, sympathizers and the general public that he is \u201cfocused on the main project of winning the election of 2016 and forming an NPP administration that will restore hope to our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis nation deserves a competent, compassionate and honest government and we in the NPP have to provide it so that Ghana can go back to a bright future of progress and prosperity. We have no choice.
