{"id":120220,"date":"2015-05-29T07:00:54","date_gmt":"2015-05-29T07:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=120220"},"modified":"2015-05-29T07:13:49","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T07:13:49","slug":"frequency-reclasification-we-didnt-spring-surprise-on-giba-nca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=120220","title":{"rendered":"Frequency reclasification: We didn&#8217;t spring surprise on GIBA &#8211; NCA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Communication Authority (NCA) has criticized the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association\u00a0(GIBA) for pretending it did not know about the Authority&#8217;s new reclassification policy.<\/p>\n<p>The NCA\u2019s Principal Manager in-charge of engineering, Edmund Yerenkyi Fianko on the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News said: \u201cGIBA is acting as if we have sprung a surprise on them; it is not a surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Seq8DFA6yzl18tsDWYywTikczdLjTUZS&#8221;]He claimed that the association failed to raise its present concerns during the consultative meeting and further accused some operators of failing to attend the meeting due to their disregard for its importance.<\/p>\n<p>GIBA has said it will petition the President and the Communications Minister over the NCA\u2019s reclassification policy which seeks to reduce the \u2026.from 100 kilometer radius to 45 kilometre radius.<\/p>\n<p>The association has further threatened to drag the Authority to the Supreme Court if it fails to review the policy because according to them, it will adversely affect their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Fianko stated that the policy is not new since its implementation began in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no new policy.
