Former President John Agyekum Kufour has called on the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop tearing the party apart in media over the death of Alhaji Adams Mahama, the party’s Upper East regional chairman.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”xGxWy7G7fgX5hTcmfaUVmdsKECSkHSW6″]He cautioned party members against “acrimonious accusations in the media” which he said “only serve to further divide their ranks and allow heir detractors to infiltrate them.”<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by his spokepeson, Frank Agyekum, the former President said he finds it disquieting that issues that must be resolved in accordance with laid down procedures of the party\u2019s constitution are constantly being discussed in the media without regard to the overall effect on its fortunes.<\/p>\n
The former President who is currently \u00a0out of the country reiterated the need for calm and circumspection in the affairs of the party.<\/p>\n
He posited that\u00a0the NPP needs to unite not only for its own good but for that of the entire nation that is looking up to it as the alternative government<\/p>\n
The Ex-President urged that the painful and untimely passing away of Alhaji Mahama, should be used to unite the party and not tear it apart.<\/p>\n
He further appealed that the “national investigative system that has already taken charge of the process be allowed to work rather than the party seeming to preempt the outcome.”<\/p>\n
NPP Chairman in the Upper East Region, Adam Mahama died after he was ambushed and attacked with acid.<\/p>\n
His death has caused some confusion in the party with many calling for the resignation of National Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko, and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.<\/p>\n
This is because some believe the death was triggered by events that took place prior to the attack on Adam Mahama.<\/p>\n
