traders demonstrate against Mayor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traders in Kumasi have staged a street protest against the Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) over central market development project.<\/p>\n<p>All shops have been closed and drivers of public transport vehicles have parked their cars.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;qbI0CrTPCjMVjdwRlMCVvOB33vKidVxu&#8221;]There has been confusion in Kumasi between the traders and the KMA over plans to reconstruct the\u00a0Kumasi Central Market.<\/p>\n<p>The traders have mounted fierce resistance against plans to relocate them to Adehyeman market to allow the first phase of the market construction to begin.<\/p>\n<p>In February this year, they announced <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/23\/reconstruction-of-kumasi-central-market-triggers-another-demo\/#sthash.bPOqAiPz.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">plans to stage a massive demonstration<\/a><\/strong><\/span> against city authorities over the matter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150527-WA0003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-119618\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150527-WA0003.jpg\" alt=\"Kumasi traders\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/03\/10\/kejetia-traders-storm-kma-office\/#sthash.VLwfXeBM.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>stormed the office of the KMA<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to express their displeasure over the planned relocation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News&#8217;<\/strong> Ashanti Regional correspondent, Hawa Iddrisu reported that the traders are angry with the Mayor, Kojo Bonsu over his failure to give them a definite relocation plan for the evacuation exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The traders are also accusing the city authorities of deliberately registering people who do not own shops at the terminal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG-20150527-WA0001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" petition to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anaafi at the Regional Coordinating Council.<\/p>\n<p><a
