General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong has denied reports suggesting that he resigned from his position.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”naYLJ5H6e9iDazJqoZ24jXEA0ZBG40Tw”]A resignation letter allegedly signed by Kwabena Agyepong on NPP’s letterhead and reported on Joy FM and other news websites indicated that he had resigned.<\/p>\n
“There is no truth in the report. I have been at home the whole day. I haven’t issued any statement. I want to emphatically state, that I am still the General Secretary of the NPP,”\u00a0he stated on Eyewitness News<\/strong> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Kwabena Agyepong further added that “If anyone wants to remove me there are procedures in the party’s constitution that could be followed,” adding that “I do not intend to resign.”<\/p>\n Various\u00a0members of the NPP have mounted pressure on the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary to step aside following various confusions that have faced the party after they were elected to office.<\/p>\n The pressure was further intensified\u00a0following the death of the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Adam Mahama.<\/p>\n Adam Mahama’s death is said to have been triggered\u00a0by the disruption of a recent planned meeting between Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong and some executives of the party in the Upper East region.<\/p>\n So far \u00a0NPP executives in about eight regions of the country have petitioned the party\u2019s National Council<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to have the two step aside for further investigations to be carried out on the death of Adam Mahama.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin Akweiteh Allotey\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
