An Accra Circuit court has denied Gregory Afoko, the brother of Paul Afoko, the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) bail and remanded him for his alleged role in the death of Regional Chairman of the party in the Upper East Region.<\/p>\n

According to the charge sheet presented to court by the Police, Gregory Afoko, together with his accomplice who is currently on the run, \u201cplanned the murder of the late Upper East Chairman of the NPP<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (Adam Mahama).\u201d<\/p>\n The Police further stated that the other accomplice, upon picking information that he was being hunted by the Police escaped with his wife, leaving behind their baby.<\/p>\n The Police are still investigating the matter.<\/p>\n The court subsequently adjourned the case to June 9, 2015.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, when news broke out that Gregory took part in the incident, the National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko\u00a0\u00a0defended his brother<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n Paul Afoko said, his brother was asleep at the time the incident happened.<\/p>\n “Given events that led to the loss, it is natural to expect the various twists that have been put to it but I want to urge all to remain calm and avoid wild and unfounded accusations,” he added in a statement.<\/p>\n In another development, five regions in the country have petitioned the National Council of the NPP,\u00a0to have Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong step aside as Chairman and General Secretary<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>of the NPP.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin Akweiteh Allotey\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
