Army soldiers are being sent to help.<\/p>\n<p>A number of landslides have hit Nepal since the 7.8-magnitude earthquake on 25 April which killed more than 8,000 people and injured many more.<\/p>\n<p>It was followed by a 7-3 magnitude quake on 12 May and several strong tremors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape body-width no-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/media\/images\/83194000\/png\/_83194683_nepalkaligandaki4640515.png\" alt=\"Map\" width=\"464\" height=\"261\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The landslide around midnight on Sunday (19:00 GMT on Saturday) has caused water levels to rise by about 200m (600ft).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have asked villagers along the riverside in these districts to move to safer places,&#8221; interior ministry official Laxmi Prasad Dhakal told Reuters news agency.<\/p>\n<p>One of Nepal&#8217;s largest hydroelectric power plants in the area could be at risk, officials have warned.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape full-width has-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/media\/images\/83194000\/jpg\/_83194657_83194631.jpg\" alt=\"Local people in the ruins of a collapsed house after the massive earthquake in Changunarayan on the outskirts of Bhaktapur on 22 May.\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">People are trying to rebuild their lives<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Army helicopter were surveying the area with troops being sent to siphon off the water from the fast-growing lake.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say large areas could be at risk of flooding if the collected waters burst.<\/p>\n<p>Kaligandaki River flows into India where it eventually joins the Ganges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of people have fled to safety following a landslide in western Nepal which blocked the flow of a river.
