Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko has stated that the party is not a violent one despite the acid attack that led to the death of the party’s Upper East Regional Chairman.<\/p>\n

The party\u2019s Upper East Regional Chairman, Adam Mahama has died following an attack by some unknown persons<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>who poured acid on him.<\/p>\n In 2014, a planned press conference organized by the NPP\u2019s chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong turned bloody after some party supporters disrupted the programme.<\/p>\n There were violent clashes at the party’s headquarters ahead of the National Delegates Congress that elected a presidential candidate.<\/p>\n Speaking on Asempa FM\u2019s Eko Sii Sein programme on Thursday, Paul Afoko said the party should not be associated with a violent tag.<\/p>\n \u201cViolence is not good for the party. The NPP was not formed on violence. The NPP is not known for violence. The party was formed on wisdom and knowledge,\u201d he stressed adding that\u00a0\u201canybody who know me knows that I don’t support violence.\u201d<\/p>\n On the death of Adam Mahama<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, Paul Afoko called for calm and urged the Police to act swiftly in their investigations.<\/p>\n \u201cThe perpetrators of this wicked act must be brought to book.
