{"id":118067,"date":"2015-05-21T12:36:30","date_gmt":"2015-05-21T12:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=118067"},"modified":"2015-05-21T12:39:29","modified_gmt":"2015-05-21T12:39:29","slug":"nana-addo-cuts-europe-trip-short-over-adams-mahamas-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=118067","title":{"rendered":"Nana Addo cuts Europe trip short over Adams Mahama&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has cut short his 16-day Europe tour over the death\u00a0of the party\u2019s Upper East Regional chairman, Adams Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>In a solemn message, Nana Addo described the incident as a sad moment for the party and announced that \u201cI\u2019m cutting short my trip to Europe to come back home and join everybody in the party and the country to say goodbye to our fallen colleague and then also, see what needs to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/21\/confirmed-npp-ue-chairman-dead-after-acid-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;MQr5BtdE8MaoLUDxCFNVkqzois9cVS3E&#8221;]Adams Mahama died on Thursday<\/strong><\/span><\/a> at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospitals following an acid attack on him on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He was on his way home with his wife when some two individuals reportedly stopped his vehicle and poured the acid on him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/21\/one-arrested-for-acid-attack-on-upper-east-npp-chairman\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>One of the suspects has been arreste<\/strong><\/span><\/a>d while the other is at large.<\/p>\n<p>The situation has resulted in <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/21\/clashes-at-bolga-hospital-over-death-of-npp-chairman\/#sthash.V0vmv94e.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">some violent attacks<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in Bolgatanga but Nana Addo has called for calm within the rank and file of the party.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that though the death of Adams Mahama is tragic, all followers of the party must desist from taking the law into their own hands.<\/p>\n<p>He extended his condolences to the wife and family of the late NPP regional chairman saying, \u201cit\u2019s a very sad day for all of us in the NPP. I want to extend my deepest condolences to his wife and to his family. I\u2019m calling upon the almighty God to give them the strength to bare this really terrible loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NPP flagbearer stressed that it is imperative for all NPP members to stay calm \u201cand be in solidarity with each other because we don\u2019t want anybody taking the law into their own hands or causing any kind of mess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must be very, very calm and responsible\u2026the matter is in the hands of the Police and I believe that they should allow the Police to carry out their investigation and let\u2019s see what comes out of it,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo mentioned that he is \u201cheartbroken\u201d at the news because \u201che [Adams Mahama] was a good friend of mine, we\u2019ve known each other for a long time and he was a very strong aide to the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama and he was a very strong party person.
