The Upper East Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahama Adams\u00a0who was attacked with acid<\/a><\/strong><\/span> has died from his injuries at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he was receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

His death was confirmed by his relative and son of the Late Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Farouk Mahama.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show,<\/strong>\u00a0Farouk Mahama said: “I am with a heavy heart this morning, Adams, our only surviving hope in the family is gone and we are very sad and we are all in shock.”<\/p>\n

He said it is rather unfortunate that his uncle’s life ended over politics.<\/p>\n

“Everybody enters politics with a notion. Adams was not a politician, he was a businessman and because\u00a0 of his closeness to Aliu Mahama,\u00a0when he died Adams Mahama decided to enter into politics to reincarnate the image of Aliu Mahama.”<\/p>\n

Farouk Mahama narrated that he received a call in the early hours of Thursday, that acid has been poured on his uncle who was in the vehicle with his wife.<\/p>\n

“Then this morning as at 9:30, I had a phone call from a boy who was by him at the bedside to confirm that Adams is no more.”<\/p>\n

Mahama Adam was attacked by two unidentified men on Wednesday while he was returning from work.<\/p>\n

The chairman’s aide, Zakariah Osman, said Mahama Adams suffered several burns on his body.<\/p>\n

The Upper East Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Thomas Agbanyo told Citi News<\/strong> that the other person who allegedly took part in the crime is on the run.<\/p>\n

He explained that the Police are withholding the name of the person arrested for security reasons until his accomplice is also arrested.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the suspect has denied perpetrating the attack.<\/p>\n
