The Accra Regional Police Command has commended the celebrities who organized the \u2018Dumsormuststop vigil\u2019 for adhering to the rules and guidelines given ahead of the event.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”QDZjsshNW3VdWyzhGQ843jextgmkMUf7″]The Command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, ASP Effia Tenge said despite the controversy which preceded the vigil, the event was \u201cpeaceful and successful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Police can say that it was a peaceful event\u2026 I can confirm that the vigil was successful and it ended incident free and very peaceful,\u201d she said on the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Some celebrities led thousands of Ghanaians on a procession in Accra to protest government\u2019s failure to find a permanent solution to the three year energy-crisis.<\/p>\n

Prior to the vigil, there were a few setbacks including the denied access<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to use the University of Ghana stadium and Total Ghana\u2019s \u2018On the Run\u2019 as converging point.<\/p>\n

Also, the Ga Traditional Council petitioned<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>the Accra Police Command to prevent the vigil from taking place following the ban on drumming and noise making.<\/p>\n

But after a series of meetings, the organizers were given the green light to proceed with the vigil.<\/p>\n

The Police however cautioned them to ensure participants adhered to the laid down rules<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>bearing in mind the ban imposed on drumming and noise making.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong> on Monday, ASP Tenge stated that the Police were not the least surprised about the number of citizens who participated.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cThe Police was not surprised at all\u2026we had a number that the organizers had earlier informed us that they were expecting to be at the event so from the Police side; we were not surprised at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
