{"id":116310,"date":"2015-05-15T07:46:58","date_gmt":"2015-05-15T07:46:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=116310"},"modified":"2015-05-15T07:46:58","modified_gmt":"2015-05-15T07:46:58","slug":"govt-has-paid-all-arrears-owed-nhis-finance-ministry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=116310","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t has paid all arrears owed NHIS &#8211; Finance Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Finance says it has fulfilled all financial obligations to the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS) for the 2015 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The NHIA has been been struggling to pay service providers, a situation that has caused some providers to reject card holders until debts are settled.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;9UCrJdqvMZjn8tYFmJkyI8ocUefdmHJH&#8221;]Government recently<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/04\/govt-to-release-gh%C2%A2180m-to-pay-nhis-arrears\/#sthash.FnChQX03.Qv65ua2t.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> released\u00a0180 million cedis<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to\u00a0the NHIA to offset part of its 460 million cedi debt owed service providers but despite government\u2019s intervention various health institutions insist they will not accept card holders until the entire debt is defrayed.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Society of Private and Dental Practitioners indicated that its members will continue to reject NHIS cards until the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) pays about eighty percent of the total debt owed private hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>However the Minister on Thursday&#8217;s sitting told the House that government had settled all arrears owed the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Answering questions on government\u2019s expenditure on the NHIA in parliament on Thursday, the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper told MPs that the payment of 2015 commitments so far is an indication that government is committed to reviving the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The releases from the National Health Insurance Levy into the Insurance Fund, stood at 828, 399,000 in 2013 and 1,630,199 GHC in 2014.In 2015, payments to the National Health Insurance has been made up to date.
