Millet porridge often referred to as “Hausa Koko,” a local variety patronised by many Ghanaians is gradually losing its appeal amongst many residents in the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis.<\/p>\n

Unlike previously when producers of the porridge had access to constant electricity supply and could, therefore, mill the products on a daily basis, now they have no option than to mill large quantities, using only a portion and preserving the rest.<\/p>\n
The preservation of the milled millet is the problem as it leads to fermentation and a subsequent change of taste.<\/p>\n
Some sellers of the porridge told the GNA that the fermentation of the milled millet had led to some sellers adding more sugar to cover the fermentation.<\/p>\n
Aunt Amariya, a koko seller around the CRC Church in Takoradi, said her sales had reduced drastically due to the power outages and
