The Ga Traditional Council is still pushing for a postponement of a planned vigil this Saturday by some celebrities.<\/p>\n
A meeting held yesterday by the Accra Regional Police Command and attended by some members of the Ga Traditional Council and representatives of the celebrities failed to reach a compromise.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”r0IiVHE3Cs8qE1QK5ILP9bnHb8cKU9Mu”]The council has petitioned the command against the vigil due to a ban on drumming and noise-making in the Ga-mashie area.<\/p>\n
But the La Traditional Council has waded into the controversy by downplaying the locus of the Ga Traditional Council in issuing such a directive.<\/p>\n
They contend that the area where the vigil will take place falls in their traditional jurisdiction and oversight, thereby questioning the authority of the Ga Traditional Council to include the Tetteh-Quarshie area as part of their jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
The La Wulomo in an interview with Citi News has also given the assurance that he will join the vigil on Saturday<\/p>\n
The organizers however insist that the vigil will go ahead as planned but have pledged not to violate the ban on drumming and noise-making.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News the Public Relations Officer at the Accra Regional Police Command ASP Effia Tenge says the police will continue to push for a compromise.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn our meeting we were not able to arrive at any conclusion so because the meeting ended in a deadlock we are trying to negotiate to see if there will be a compromise,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
Some members of the Ga Traditional Council that attended the meeting included the Gbese Mantse Nii Ayibonte II, Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, Otublohum Mantse and acting President of the council and Numo Ogbamey III, Sakumo Wulomo.<\/p>\n
