{"id":113167,"date":"2015-05-02T05:59:29","date_gmt":"2015-05-02T05:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=113167"},"modified":"2015-05-02T05:59:29","modified_gmt":"2015-05-02T05:59:29","slug":"army-helicopter-shot-at-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=113167","title":{"rendered":"Army helicopter shot at Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">A Mexican army helicopter has been shot at in the western state of Jalisco, killing three soldiers and injuring 12 others.<\/p>\n<p>The country&#8217;s defence minister said the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing after it came under fire from members of a drug cartel.<\/p>\n<p>A government official said the Jalisco New Generation gang was believed to be behind the attack, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n<p>There were violent clashes elsewhere in the state on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Jalisco&#8217;s Governor Aristoteles Sandoval said at least seven people had been killed and 15 injured.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles were set on fire and banks and petrol stations were damaged across the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a reaction to an operation to detain leaders of this cartel,&#8221; said Mr Sandoval, without naming the group.<\/p>\n<p>The Jalisco New Generation is considered one of the most powerful criminal organisations in Mexico and is involved in large-scale drug trafficking along the Pacific Coast.<\/p>\n<p>The military helicopter was taking part in the operation when it spotted carloads of gunmen on a road between the towns of Casimiro Castillo and Villa Purificacion.<\/p>\n<p>Three other security personnel are still missing, according to the defence ministry.<\/p>\n<p>More than 20 police officers have been killed in attacks by drug gangs in the last two months in Jalisco state.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape full-width has-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/media\/images\/82719000\/jpg\/_82719825_bus.jpg\" alt=\"Firemen extinguish a fire in a bus in Guadalajara, Mexico, 01 May 2015\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">Buses and cars were set alight in the city of Guadalajara<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Mexican army helicopter has been shot at in the western state of Jalisco, killing three soldiers and injuring 12 others.
