{"id":112011,"date":"2015-04-28T12:00:21","date_gmt":"2015-04-28T12:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=112011"},"modified":"2015-04-28T12:41:54","modified_gmt":"2015-04-28T12:41:54","slug":"first-private-girls-college-opens-in-akuse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=112011","title":{"rendered":"First private girls college opens in Akuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Legacy Girls College, a privately owned all-girls boarding school has been opened in Akuse, in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u00a0is the first all girls private second cycle institution in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the co-Founders of the institution, Ellen Hagan said\u00a0the motivation to establish the Legacy Girls College stemmed from the challenges women face wherever they find themselves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She added that the college intends to make every girl who goes through the school know their self worth and discover themselves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the inaugural ceremony where the school was introduced to guests, Co-founder of the College Mrs. Essie Anno Sackey encouraged parents and guardians to bring their children to the Legacy Girls College in order to give their girls the grounding to make a meaningful impact in society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mrs. Maranatha Kove, Principal of Legacy Girls\u00a0College, also added \u201cwe have state of the art facilities\u00a0 that makes learning enjoyable and creates a\u00a0 homely ambiance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Legacy Girls College has the\u00a0mission to \u201cnurture the immense potential of girls\u00a0to be whatever they want to be in a fast changing\u00a0 and increasingly complex world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In her keynote address, Mrs. Mawuena Trebah,\u00a0 CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, said that\u00a0 every girl who goes through Legacy Girls College is\u00a0 destined to lead a legacy for success in life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She noted that as citizens of Ghana, we need to focus\u00a0on what is happening internally and commit to the<br \/>\nprocess of excellence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also present at the event was Dr. Erica Bennet,\u00a0Ambassador for the Diaspora African Forum (DAF); Nana Oye Lithur, Minister for Gender,\u00a0 Children and Social Protection; Dr. Mrs. Sylvia Boye,\u00a0 former Head of the Ghana Education Trust Fund\u00a0(GETFUND) and Mrs. Joyce Boeh-Ocansey, Head of\u00a0 Recruitment, LAINE Services Limited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Courses offered at Legacy Girls College are in line with\u00a0the Ghanaian curriculum and the British Curriculum for Senior High Schools with\u00a0additional departments for\u00a0BECE remedial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The College is expected to make its first admission in September this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Magdalene Teiko Larnyoh\/citifmonline.com<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Legacy Girls College, a privately owned all-girls boarding school has been opened in Akuse, in the Eastern Region.
