{"id":111097,"date":"2015-04-24T10:38:43","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T10:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=111097"},"modified":"2015-04-24T10:41:23","modified_gmt":"2015-04-24T10:41:23","slug":"nana-addo-visits-nigerias-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=111097","title":{"rendered":"Nana Addo visits Nigeria&#8217;s Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday, travelled to Abuja to pay a courtesy call on Nigeria\u2019s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Ho909Y82jyvtdV8ZB3Grk8HJKaOuHURS&#8221;]The visit according to Nana Addo, was to congratulate General Buhari on his historic victory in the country\u2019s March elections.<\/p>\n<p>Accompanying Akufo-Addo were Ghana&#8217;s former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Rashid Bawa and Akufo-Addo&#8217;s Executive Assistant, Saratu Atta.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters of the NPP in Ghana are optimistic that the outcome of Nigeria\u2019s fiercely-contested presidential elections will be <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/04\/01\/npp-lotto-forecasters-were-not-scared-of-losing-2016-gen-mosquito\/#sthash.DJaPQq25.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>replicated in Ghana.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to them, the factors and circumstances which led to Buhari massive win presently exist in Ghana and will certainly favour Nana Addo in the 2016 presidential elections.<\/p>\n<p>Buhari won the elections at age 72 after four attempts, while Nana Addo is making his third attempt at the Presidency at age 72.<\/p>\n<p>They also listed the ages of the sitting Presidents of Nigeria and Ghana as one of the factors &#8211; Goodluck Jonathan and John Mahama who are both aged 58.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Jonathan and Mahama took over the reins of power when their President\u2019s; Umaru Musa Yar\u2019Adua and Professor John Mills died in office and both won their first elections.<\/p>\n<p>But the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/04\/01\/npp-lotto-forecasters-were-not-scared-of-losing-2016-gen-mosquito\/#sthash.DJaPQq25.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>rubbished these predictions<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>saying, \u201cI don\u2019t see any such parallels between Nigeria and Ghana at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the NDC is not afraid of losing elections, adding that 2016 election is not the NDC\u2019s \u201cmain purpose of being in government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday, travelled to Abuja to pay a courtesy call on Nigeria\u2019s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.
