{"id":110105,"date":"2015-04-20T17:55:40","date_gmt":"2015-04-20T17:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=110105"},"modified":"2015-04-20T18:11:14","modified_gmt":"2015-04-20T18:11:14","slug":"no-ghanaian-killed-in-xenophobic-attacks-sa-high-cssion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=110105","title":{"rendered":"No Ghanaian killed in xenophobic attacks &#8211; SA High C&#8217;ssion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No Ghanaian has been killed in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, according to the South African High Commissioner to Ghana Lulama Xingwana, who revealed this at a press conference held in Accra on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;N9pcyiHvBpuYVJ5X3uFK3YMXHpWaBnM3&#8243;]The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hannah Tetteh on April 17 said one Ghanaian, Emmanuel Quarcoo was found dead on the streets of Durban which has recorded several incidents of xenophobic attacks.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hanna Tetteh in \u00a0tweet, Emmanuel was found dead by the roadside with head injuries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/hannah-tetteh.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-109148\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/hannah-tetteh.png\" alt=\"hannah tetteh\" width=\"506\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/hannah-tetteh.png 506w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/hannah-tetteh-300x263.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the press conference however, Lulama Xingwana said that according to an autopsy report, the Ghanaian who was found dead on the streets of Durban died of an epileptic attack.<\/p>\n<p>Giving further details, the High Commissioner said that \u201cso far the reports we have from the police and the ministry, 10 people have died.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to her nine 9 people died in Durban and 1 person in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>She gave the breakdown of the deceased as follows \u201c2 people who died are South Africans, we have 2 Ethiopians, we have 2 Mozambicans, 1 Bangladesh national, 1 Zimbabwean, 1 Swazi national and 1 Somalian national.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/04\/19\/four-ghanaians-found-dead-in-south-africa\/#sthash.IdZiziEE.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>4\u00a0more Ghanaians were found dead<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in a salon in Heibron in Free State, South Africa but the deaths were not linked to the attacks.<\/p>\n<p>The attacks were triggered by\u00a0alleged comments made by Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini telling migrants to go home \u2013 although he said he was misquoted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By:Magdalene Teiko Larnyoh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No Ghanaian has been killed in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, according to the South African High Commissioner to Ghana Lulama Xingwana, who revealed this at a press conference held in Accra on Monday.
