{"id":108992,"date":"2015-04-16T14:20:28","date_gmt":"2015-04-16T14:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=108992"},"modified":"2015-04-16T17:12:20","modified_gmt":"2015-04-16T17:12:20","slug":"effects-of-13000-job-cuts-frightening-labour-analyst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=108992","title":{"rendered":"Effects of 13,000 job cuts &#8216;frightening&#8217; \u2013 Labour analyst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Labour Analyst Kofi Davor is urging government to urgently put in measures to halt the massive job losses in the private sector due to the ongoing power crises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;9hHAiPeBe0O1DE081tkrEfopOUfohoUP&#8221;]The Ghana Employers\u2019 Associations said close to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/04\/16\/dumsor-triggered-13000-job-cuts-employers-association\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>13,000 workers have been sacked<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in the last four months alone because of the erratic power supply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking in an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> the labour analyst insisted that the effect of the job losses on the workers, their families and the economy is dire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He explained that \u201cthe consequences of what is happening today is not going to be felt\u00a0immediately, it\u2019s going to be felt in the next\u00a0 five to fifteen years. The effect is that people are not going to go to school, people are not going to be able to take care of their families, the multiply effect is so debilitating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe consequence into the long term is so frightening, I can imagine the number of people who are going to drop out of school because their parents cannot afford their fees. we appear to be assuming that it\u2019s a normal problem that is staying with us. we need to be very careful,\u201d Mr Davor added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has said government will soon establish\u00a0a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/04\/16\/govt-to-establish-employment-resource-centre\/#sthash.RdGG7pXm.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>national employment resource center<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to collate a data base of job seekers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, the centre create an opportunity for employers to recruit young people from.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under this restructuring and reform, we intend to create a new national employment resource centre.
