An Accra Magistrate Court has ordered the removal of the two Nigerians \u00a0on trial for allegedly \u00a0hijacking an oil vessel from their current cell to a new one.<\/p>\n

The order was made after lawyer for the suspects claimed that his\u00a0clients were being kept in a cell which he described as inhabitable.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”sTGVb1gIMD852FO0V48yRmapw93OXYnb”]Eight Nigerian suspected pirates were arrested in January\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/a>by the Eastern Naval Command in Tema for hijacking an oil vessel in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Ghanaian Security Services say the pirates managed to transfer the ship\u2019s cargo into another vessel before\u00a0their arrest.<\/p>\n

The vessel, MV Mariam, was carrying about 1,500 tonnes of crude oil at the time it was hijacked.<\/p>\n

The pirates reportedly turned the vessel around and entered the territorial waters of Ghana but a tracking device on the vessel enabled the owner to track it down.<\/p>\n

The case has been adjourned to the 25th<\/sup> of April.<\/p>\n

The judge, \u00a0justice Efua Sackey has also ordered the BNI to immediately move the two accused to a new cell.<\/p>\n
