The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan will be appearing before the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament to answer questions on two different cell break incidents in recent times.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”LivfAizuDsjV36ZvHWUm7sbRkSvCwW6k”]The cell breaks\u00a0happened in Denu<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in the Volta Region and a recent one at Tepa<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in the Ashanti region.<\/p>\n In Denu, 7 people escaped, carrying with them, two AK47 riffles belonging to the officers at the station but 3\u00a0have been re-arrested<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to Citi News<\/strong> Deputy ranking Member on the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament, Major Derick Oduro indicated the resolve of Parliament to probe the IGP on the recent happenings with the aim of putting a stop to such incidents.<\/p>\n He lamented that \u201cwhen the [prisoners] are under confinement behind bars under the protection of high security personnel and they are are able to break through the confinement and then escape, these are all source of worry and I believe that Ghanaians are also worried.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the more reason why Parliament\u2019s Interior Committee will want to hear from the IGP what happened. I know very well that investigations will be instituted by the Police service but before that and after that we want to hear from the IGP,\u201d Major Oduro added.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t be alarmed over cell break \u2013 Interior Minister<\/strong><\/p>\n
