Some Nigerians living\u00a0in Ghana expect their newly elected President, Muhammadu Buhari to among other things, immediately deal with the Boko Haram insurgents in North Eastern Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The insurgents, Boko Haram for the past five years have caused havoc in Africa\u2019s most populous country, killing over one thousand people, both civilians and military.<\/span><\/p>\n Following the elections which saw General Buhari\u2019s overwhelming victory, Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0spoke with some Nigerians in Ghana on their expectations.<\/p>\n \u201cI have heard he promised that when he comes, within one month or so, he will clear those things\u2026make this Boko Haram things in Nigeria come down,” a young Nigerian who manages a mobile phone shop at Tiptoe lane at Circle in Accra said.<\/span><\/p>\n Another Nigerian lady, Nancy Oladeji, believed Nigerians should give the new leader \u201ca chance and see what he would be able to do\u201d. She added \u201c<\/span>I expect him to do his best, especially concerning the Boko Haram people. I want him to do something about it. And I don\u2019t want Nigeria\u2019s economy to suffer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n However, for Uche, a supporter of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, even though General Buhari was not the person he wanted, he wished him \u201call the best\u201d, but added, \u201cthere\u2019s nothing we can do\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n A friend of his, sharply retorted, \u201cI feel fine. As my president has accepted defeat, who am I not to accept defeat?\u201d<\/p>\n Apart from the Boko Haram threat, Patrick, another Nigerian at Tiptoe Lane wanted the new President to also deal with problems in Niger Delta, saying, \u201cthey are destroying Nigeria and it needs to be tackled.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He was optimistic General Buhari would succeed because \u201che has ruled Nigeria before and he is a good ruler.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n But for 46 year old Winner Obi, all he is expecting is Progress. \u201cI need everything in Nigeria to be nice and good.
