Lawyers for Alfred Woyome have assured the Supreme Court that their client will pay back\u00a0the \u00a251 million judgment to the state by the end of 2015.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”T4yl08gA7y5Rbwi6gbsXpvYdjW1lCjjf”]The Supreme Court in 2014 ordered Mr Woyome to refund the money but the Attorney General\u2019s Department had\u00a0not managed to retrieve the money yet.<\/p>\n
Mr Woyome was paid the sum as judgment debt for allegedly rendering services to the\u00a0state during preparations towards hosting the African Cup of Nations in Ghana in 2008.<\/p>\n
The assurance from Woyome\u2019s lawyers follows a case brought before the court by the AG to seek direction on how to proceed with the collection of the money.<\/p>\n
An Accra Fast Track High court in a civil case on March 12\u00a0acquitted and discharged Woyome<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>on counts\u00a0of causing financial loss to the state and defrauding by false pretense following the payment of the GHC 51 million to him as judgment debt.<\/p>\n The AG,\u00a0Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong had vowed to pursue the case at the Supreme Court<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0to ensure Mr Woyome pays back all the money.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n
