{"id":102982,"date":"2015-03-27T12:02:47","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T12:02:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=102982"},"modified":"2015-03-27T12:41:44","modified_gmt":"2015-03-27T12:41:44","slug":"mahama-denies-sale-of-military-lands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=102982","title":{"rendered":"Mahama denies sale of military lands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President John Mahama has denied accusations that the government is selling off military lands and other properties to private developers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;GZ0ZLcIx8Wwh0eOkpz0yP8qEbeg4nSSC&#8221;]The President debunked the allegations when he inaugurated a new accommodation facility for the junior officers of the Ghana Air Force in the Western Region on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A group called the Alliance for Safeguarding the Integrity of the Security Services (ASISS), has sworn to defend with their lives,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/03\/18\/stop-selling-armed-forces-properties-group-warns\/#sthash.VRXkObjv.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>attempts by government to sell military lands<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to private developers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">ASISS which is made up of\u00a0ex-military officers\u00a0catalogued a number of lands and properties they claim have been sold or given to private developers including the No.1 Roman ridge residence, Army officers Mess, 1 Drake Avenue, Labadi Villa\u2019s land and Teshie Camp (portions have been sold).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ghana Armed forces (GAF) vehemently denied selling any lands and properties but explained that it has entered into a partnership with a private developer to build accommodation for army officers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The GAF&#8217;s explanation however raised serious concerns with\u00a0Financial Analyst and anti-corruption crusader, Sydney Casely-Hayford asking for a\u00a0full disclosure of the said Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement which had been made.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/16322870843_e769143f2d_z.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-103032\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/16322870843_e769143f2d_z.jpg\" alt=\"16322870843_e769143f2d_z\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/16322870843_e769143f2d_z.jpg 640w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/16322870843_e769143f2d_z-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to him, it was imperative for the GAF to tell citizens \u201cwho the PPP arrangements were made with, who the parties are, who are going to be the beneficiaries are going to be, and they should tell us exactly what the cost of each property will be\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<div>President Mahama, who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces indicated that Cabinet has been discussing the idea of using PPP to undertake several projects across the country.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He urged the Ghana Armed Forces to work with the Lands Commission to get value for money from the said partnership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama has denied accusations that the government is selling off military lands and other properties to private developers.
